A miller with three sons dies and can only leave the youngest, Jack, a few coins and a cat. Jack sets off to make his fortune with the help of the cat, who proves to be very wise and helpful. The cat requests a pair of boots and even though Jack will be left with nothing, he buys a pair of very fine boots that fit the cat perfectly. Then the cat sets off to make his master rich. First stop, the king! A wonderful fairy tale adapted for younger readers by Katharine Pyle.
