Susan Mallery

Susan Mallery is an American author of romance and women's fiction. She is best known for Thrill Me (2015) and The Summer Book Club (2024). Over 95 of her books have appeared on the USA Today bestseller list. In 2015 she reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller list.

Born in 1970, Susan Mallery grew up in the Los Angeles area. As an only child, she often visited the local library and took home as many books as possible.

Mallery holds a master's degree from Seton Hill University. She studied accounting at university, but changed direction after enrolling in a course on writing fiction. "By the sixth week, I realised this was what I was meant to do," Susan said. Although she graduated, she never worked in the field. Instead, she was published straight out of college with two books in January 1992.

Her first big break came in 2008, when Accidentally Yours made the New York Times bestseller list. Several more followed, including Summer Nights (2012), Three Sisters (2013) and Fool's Gold Christmas (2012). Mallery has published over 150 novels, which have sold over 40 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 28 languages.

In 2015, her novel Thrill Me, the twentieth book in the Fool's Gold series, reached number one on the New York Times list. She later moved into women's fiction with Daughters of the Bride (2016), followed by titles such as The Summer of Sunshine and Margot (2019), The Sister Effect (2023) and Beach Vibes (2025). She described the move as exploring "the other relationships that are important to women".

Susan Mallery lives in Washington State with her husband, a poodle and two cats. She has served on the board of Seattle Humane and often includes animal characters in her books.
