Avalon Weston wrote Sian and the Winterwife for her youngest child and only daughter. She has written other fiction, including two books for children in the 'All the Sky' series, plus a detective story based on her time as a midwife with Médecins Sans Frontières and one other. She was born in London, but brought up her four children in Wales, Bristol and Devon.
