Tony de Mello is said to distance himself firstly from the question of there being a personal God. Secondly, he is said to give insufficient weight to the uniqueness of Jesus and seems to put Christ only on a par with other prophets. Lastly, de Mello is said to distance himself from the explicit authorities of the scriptures and of the Church.
