Carly Stevens is an American author from Colorado, writing fantasy and dark science fiction. She is known for dark and immersive stories about finding hope against the odds. Her most recent work is Power to Charm (2025), and she has spoken at the Pikes Peak Writers Conferences and Sisters in Crime events.
Carly Stevens grew up in Colorado and developed an early interest in storytelling. When she was fourteen, she read The Lord of the Rings, which captured her imagination. In high school, Carly read A Tale of Two Cities and became interested in characters like Sydney Carton. After studying English, she worked as a high school English teacher.
Stevens later shifted her focus to writing. She describes her books as "dark and immersive, with a hint of magic" and often mixes fantasy with dark science. Carly Stevens also writes under two pen names. As Anne Harrison, she writes Christmas romances. As Zora Fox, she writes romance.
In addition to writing fiction, Stevens teaches other writers. She has spoken at the Pikes Peak Writers Conference and hosted webinars for Varsity Tutors and Scribophile. She also runs a weekly YouTube channel, CarlyStevensBooks.
Her latest book, Power to Charm (2025), is a collection of cosy stories set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. It follows a witch called Ophelia who lives in a cottage with her animal friends.
