Diakonia as Christian Social Practice

Diakonia is the caring ministry of the Church. It is the Gospel in action and is expressed through loving your neighbour, creating inclusive communities, caring for creation and struggling for justice.4

Without any doubt, all diaconal acts include aspects of power. Whenever somebody performs any kind of service, and somebody receives a service, there is an imbalance in power. This imbalance in power is not negative in itself, as long as there is a profound consciousness about it on behalf of the diaconal agencies, and as long as one reflects critically on it
