Miss Mayhem

I like fighting with you, but there are some things you just can’t argue.

“We suck at timing, don’t we?”

“We do.”

And then David smiled. “Good thing we’re so good at kissing.”

Disappointment has a taste, I swear. Something kind of bitter in the back of your throat that you can’t quite swallow. It seemed like I was tasting it a lot these days.

“And, not to mention,” I added, “my other ex is also a Magically Bound Coworker. I’m permanently tied to two guys I used to kiss.”

I just stood there by the water fountains, wanting to die of humiliation.

“When a lady says she’s ready to leave,” I told him, applying pressure, “she is ready to leave. And you do not get in her way. Is that clear?”
