Thunder Bay City has received a lot of negative attention lately, due to its high number of homicides. In 2010 and 2012 the city had the highest homicide rate among all census metropolitan areas. In 2010 there had been 5 and in 2012 there was 7. And there’s a good chance the city will get that title again for 2014, as it’s already up to 10 murders. Even more troubling is that these aren’t isolated incidents. There have been many years throughout Thunder Bay’s troubled history, where there’s been an excessive amount of senseless deaths at the hands of murderous people. The recently published book, Thunder Bay City’s True Murder Investigations 1882 to 2014, is the first of its kind, and it looks into the investigations that resulted in murder, manslaughter and infanticide charges from 1882 to 2014, in the area now known as Thunder Bay City.
