“Thank you,” said Tenley, unable to meet Emma’s gaze or even look in the direction of Emma’s husband, Frey.
“Are you nervous?” asked Frey. His voice was measured and even. He wasn’t trying to seduce her or trick her; they were well past that point.
Tenley let out a nervous laugh. “Yes!” She laughed again. This was so ridiculous. Why was she doing this? She should just walk out now. Make some apologies and chalk it all up to an intense curiosity but she didn’t have the will to go through with it.
