We Earn Differently. How Do We Split This? is written for couples who are navigating shared bills when their incomes are not the same. Whether one partner earns significantly more or the gap is modest, the moment a bill appears can shift the mood in a room. This book gives both partners a calm, structured way to work through that tension together.

The core of the book compares four contribution methods: splitting costs evenly down the middle, dividing bills in proportion to each partner's income, aiming for equal sacrifice so that each person keeps a similar share of their own earnings after bills are paid, and combining all income into a single shared pot. A chapter on hybrid systems explains how couples can apply different methods to different kinds of expenses rather than forcing one formula onto every bill.

Two chapters address the human side of the process. One walks through how to open a money conversation without it feeling like a verdict, and another looks at the resentment and friction that can build when an arrangement stops fitting the relationship. A further chapter identifies the specific life changes — a raise, a job loss, a new shared expense — that should prompt couples to revisit whatever agreement they have in place.

The book includes a worksheet for mapping shared expenses and separating them from personal ones, as well as a sample agenda for a recurring money check-in. Both tools are designed to make the process repeatable rather than a one-time event.

Readers will finish the book knowing which contribution method suits their current situation, how to discuss it with their partner, and how to recognize when and how to update the arrangement as circumstances shift.
