Alastair B. Davie is a British-born author and retired corporate publicist who lives in Northbrook, Illinois. He writes historical fiction, focusing on the impact of twentieth-century events on ordinary people. He is best known for his novel The Conscript (2021).
Alastair Davie was born in Windsor, Berkshire, and educated in the UK at Langley School, Norfolk, and the Institute of Marketing's College of Marketing. He was commissioned into the Royal Marines Commando Reserve and served for seven years.
Following his military service, Davie pursued a career in marketing and communications. He worked for the Financial Times and Reuters before moving to the United States in 1976. Over a 25-year career, he has held key public relations, marketing communications, and investor relations positions for many companies. He retired in 2002 as Director of Corporate Communications for Foster Wheeler Corporation, a Fortune 500 company.
In retirement, Davie has devoted himself to writing historical fiction. His debut novel, A Sixth Sense (2014), follows an Irishman escaping a troubled past through the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War. His second novel, Desperate Conspiracy, explores a possible Nazi plot to kidnap the Duke of Windsor while he was Governor of the Bahamas during the Second World War.
His latest, The Conscript (2021), tells the story of a young British scientist recruited as a sleeper agent for the NKGB during the Second World War. When MI5 betrays him, his betrayal has deadly consequences as Russian intelligence seeks retribution.
