Patricia Dixon

Patricia Dixon is a British author known for her compelling contemporary fiction and family dramas. Based in Manchester, where she lives with her husband, Patricia draws inspiration from her city and her second home in the Loire Valley, France. With fourteen novels, including Sanctuary (2024), she has established herself as a storyteller of emotional depth and suspense.

Born in Manchester, Dixon initially pursued a creative path, graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a Fashion Design and Knitwear Technology degree. Against the advice of her teachers, she pursued a career in fashion, spending time in London before returning to the North of England to concentrate on motherhood. Decades later, she turned to writing, a decision she attributes to the "wise words of her elders".

Dixon's latest novel, Sanctuary (2024), is a gripping tale of trauma, courage and uncovering long-hidden truths. The story follows Cathy, a woman seeking solace from her troubled past at Blacksheep Farm, the family home of her boyfriend, Alfie. Her retreat is soon overshadowed by the menacing presence of Bertha, the controlling matriarch of Alfie's family.

When Cathy discovers a collection of hidden portraits, she becomes embroiled in a mystery that threatens to unravel buried crimes and reshape the lives of those around her. The novel explores themes of courage, loyalty and the relentless grip of the past.

Speaking about her inspiration, Dixon has often cited her love of France and Manchester as central to her creative process. "Stories are everywhere," she says, "but it's the people and places you love that bring them to life."

Patricia's work has been praised for its emotional resonance and poetic language. Fellow writer Keri Beevis described her as "a writer at the top of her game", while N. J. Moss admired "the sheer poetry" in her writing.

When not writing, Dixon enjoys spending time with her husband, two grown-up children and grandson.
