It was in this state of complete brokenness that Penney discovered he did not need to be strong, capable, self-sufficient, or perfect, because the Lord Jesus had already become all these things for him. Therefore, this low point in Penney’s life was not an end. Rather, it was a new beginning—a dawn of greater endeavors that the Father had planned for him all along.

But courage is a state of mind that is absolutely essential for the child of God to triumph.

Secretly, I think the one thing I do want is to get out of here. To go to a big city somewhere, away from all the sympathetic, knowing smiles. Away from everybody knowing everything about everyone else. Where I’m able to figure out who I am and what I’m like, without an entire town of people thinking they already know
