Lina Ellina is a Cypriot author, academic, and entrepreneur. In 2012, she was shortlisted for the European Book Prize for her first novel, The Venetian.
Lina Ellina was born in Greece. She holds four master's degrees in English, Spanish, and German Language and Literature and an MBA in Marketing/Management.
She has taught at the University of Trier and Intercollege in Cyprus, presented research internationally, and worked as a business consultant. Her entrepreneurial ventures, particularly the Olive Park Oleastro and organic olive oil Oleastro, have garnered awards such as the BIO Award 2014 and the Innovation Award 2013.
In 2012, Ellina published her debut novel, The Venetian. The book's acclaim led to her being the first Cypriot novelist shortlisted for the European Book Prize 2012. Currently, it is part of Columbia University's Hellenic Program. The Venetian has been celebrated in Italy, with presentations under the auspices of the Regione Veneto and the Italian Embassy in Cyprus, and featured at La Fiera Delle Parole.
Her most recent work, Aphrodite in Flames (2024), is a family saga set in Cyprus's political turmoil and military conflict. The novel follows protagonist Sergio Rossi as he arrives in Cyprus to find Giannis, the only person who can save his cousin Paola's life. The narrative unfolds with Sergio's encounter with Sophia, Giannis' daughter, as they search for her father amid the chaos of the 1974 Turkish invasion. Their journey is fraught with danger, yet it also forges a connection between them.
Aphrodite in Flames delves into the complexities of war, the strength of familial bonds, and the courage required to face impossible odds.
