“Lucy, I think the Moon Goddess made a mistake. I can’t accept you as my mate. Dark Moon Pack can’t have a weak Luna, and you’ve never been able to defend yourself. The pack won’t accept you. The female Alpha needs to be strong, and that takes years of training.”

“I can train. I can become stronger!” I said, tears running down my face.

“I’ve waited seven years to find my mate. Now that I know you are unfit to be Luna, I need to select a strong she-wolf for the pack. A weak Luna makes us all weak, and we can’t risk that. I will not banish you, Lucy. My wolf will not allow that.”

“Please don’t do this, Ranger,” I begged.

“I am your Alpha! You are to address me as Alpha at all times,” he roared as he stood up. “You will not tell anyone about us, and you will continue to stay in the pack and work as normal.”

My heart felt like it was shattering into a million pieces.

Before I could say another word, he spoke the words I feared the most…

“I, Ranger LaRue, Alpha of Dark Moon Pack, reject you, Lucy Michaels, as my mate and Luna.”

Lucy lost everything four years ago in a rogue attack. She’s been abused, starved, rejected, and broken. As her eighteenth birthday approaches, strange things begin to happen—things that only occur once every century. After her first shift, she finds her fated mate and escapes to discover her true self with the help of the most dangerous Alpha of all.
