The lamps of Thimble Cross go out at midnight. The Quiet Kettle opens at dusk.

For twenty years Maude Ashby eased the weariness of everyone at the royal court of Wenmere, and slept for no one. Now she has bought a crooked herbalist's shop just past the town's last street lamp, hoping for a quiet life where nobody needs anything from her. Then, at two in the morning, a troll knocks.

The Night Tea Shop for Sleepless Monsters is a cozy fantasy novel about a burned-out healer in her forties who opens a night-only tea shop for the creatures who can't sleep: a hill troll who has never learned to sleep alone, a young dragon afraid of his own fire, and a ghost who paces the old mill every night without remembering why.

But the town council wants the shop closed by Lantern Night, the Crown wants its healer back by the first frost, and Maude has four weeks to win over a frightened town, and to let someone take care of her for once.

Inside: found family, gentle humor, a lantern moth that glows when someone is comforted, a barely-there slow-burn romance, a touch of gentle grief, and real stakes with a warm, hopeful ending. No graphic violence, no spice. Low stakes, never dull, and not LitRPG.

For listeners who love kind, small-town fantasy to unwind with at the end of a long day. Book 1 of Tales of the Quiet Kettle, a complete story. About 6.5 hours.
