When you allow your intellect to direct you rather than simply inform you, it limits what you can see, what you can do, what you can feel, and what you will experience. This is why contemplative practices are so important: they lift you out of your mind (funny—“out of your mind”).
God never gives you more than you can handle.
Compassion will whisper a greater truth, like “No one deserves to be abused, but you will learn from this and will be able to help other people when you’re on the other side of this challenge.”
Every time you focus on an outer want or need, or on somebody else’s business, it’s like throwing a hook out and attaching yourself to the object of your attention.
Let all those who guide me support me in peeling away
whatever it is that keeps me blind to what’s possible,
that keeps me hidden from my greatness,
that keeps me separate from my loved ones
today I ask you to lighten my heart, to lift my burdens,
my worries, my fears, my anxieties, my grief
so that I may know and cherish all that I am
I see it, I feel it, I acknowledge it right now
and so I know that it is
You first lose your freedom when something penetrates your emotional body and affects you so painfully. And you lose again when you decide to hold on to the bad feelings instead of turning them into powerful fuel for the future.
God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
When you transfer your energy to something outside of your own inner world, you’re literally giving away your peace, serenity, and power.
Ironically, though, when you allow yourself to connect to spirit, you want for very little because you’re so rich and filled up inside.
The ego judges and rejects with disdain and aggressiveness. The soul takes responsibility. The ego blames and transfers responsibility. The soul moves through life with grace. The ego moves through life with recklessness, chaos, and drama. The soul feels good about who it is and what it wants and needs to sustain itself, to grow and evolve. The ego never has enough; it can never leave well enough alone or see beyond the current circumstances. It is entitled, confused, and feels stuck.
The ego tirelessly swims against the current, while the soul sits back and floats in the direction that life is moving in

The level of consciousness you choose to tune in to each moment of each day will determine the quality of your experience of the world
It is during these times that you have the opportunity to explore your inner world and begin the sacred process of becoming intimate with the totality of who you are, with your light as well as your darkness, your wins as well as your losses, your blessings as well as your disappointments. Your pain, when examined and embraced, becomes your spiritual director, inspiring new beginnings and ultimately leading you to emotional freedom and the liberation of your soul.
and you have the humility to listen to the wisdom that arises
When your internal flame burns brightly, you are aligned with your soul’s highest purpose and you feel strong, powerful, and confident.
you will have the ability to listen deeply to the still, small voice that echoes your soul’s truth.
You are the keeper of your soul
within. A healthy, strong flame fills your mind with the inspiration to conceive big dreams and energizes your body with the stamina to pursue them
God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
You must learn to trust that there is a future waiting that is beyond what you might be able to grasp at this moment.
Charles Dubois, the Belgian naturalist, said, “The important thing is this: to be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are for what we could become.”
