Who polices the police?
The suspended commander of an elite police unit is found dead. It soon becomes clear that it was a hit for hire and that there is no shortage of suspects.
Was he killed by someone he had investigated?
Or by some of the people he accepted bribes from to protect them from investigation?
Or by one of the people he had embroiled to help him in his protection racket?
His glamorous wife was tired of this cheating…
…and his stable of mistresses is not grieving for him, either.
Soon Ariel Nel and Mark Wilson find that he was not the only corrupt cop and that they are dealing with a group who found a way to leverage the power and skills of the police with the flair and entrepreneurial spirit of business. A task force is formed and Ariel involves her aunt in helping provide the team with expert financial skills.
The hunters find that they are the hunted, and they are forced to move their investigation off-grid. Colonel John Ford has to investigate the murder of his former commanding officer, while being investigated by Internal Affairs for negligence in the death of General Kekana.
The task team soon finds out that their adversaries are desperate and they have infiltrated every part of the judiciary system. One of the team’s witnesses is attacked in jail.
A second one is shot on the steps of the court.
They are safe nowhere.
