tube top—A strapless shirt made out of a single band of fabric that wraps around the torso.
wedge—An angled bowl haircut for women.

shag—A layered haircut.
tomboy—A girl that dresses or acts like a boy.

puka shell—The tiny, white shell of the Hawaiian cone snail, often used to make necklaces.

flared—Wider at the bottom edge.
gauze—A thin, transparent fabric.

flannel—A cotton fabric.

The Women’s Liberation Movement fought for women. Groups like the National Organization for Women (NOW) and the Women’s Equity Action League (WEAL) helped to get the word out. There were protests and marches. Women wrote about the challenges.

But there was still a need for a Women’s Rights Movement. Women may have had jobs, but they were not getting equal pay for equal work.

Women had come a long way since they first fought for the right to vote in 1920.
