Robert has been lying dormant in the East European town of Nudvoski, posing as a jazz pianist while secretly working for Nutwood Central.
Then the call comes. Activated and sent into a world of resistance fighters and suspicious football matches, Robert discovers that espionage is largely a matter of keeping your head when everyone else appears to have lost theirs. His only trustworthy contact is Rosa, who has secrets of her own and an alarming ability to capture Robert's heart.
Joined by the plucky little terrier Towza, they follow a trail of strange clues towards the sinister Black Castle. There, rumours of industrial-scale vegetables and a disturbingly familiar mastermind suggest something dangerous is taking shape.
Mike Pearson's ROBERT TRIES TO SPY is a warm, hilarious tale of espionage, secret agents and improbable escapes.
